Karen Carney has made a ‘tough’ admission about her next Strictly Come Dancing performance, having made it past the halfway point of the competition.

The former footballer is among the eight celebrities left competing in the BBC One dance show, having been paired with professional dancer Carlos Gu.

Karen and Carlos were among the couples to perform during the last live show on Saturday night (November 8), taking to the dance floor with a Charleston to Diana Ross’s Upside Down followed by Aretha Franklin’s Think.

Following the performance, Craig Revel Horwood said: “That was absolutely incredible, it really was. It was goofy, it was clean, it was precise. It could have done with a little bit more swivel. But my goodness, your energy is just amazing. I loved it.”

Motis Mabuse added: “You have the type of energy that is contagious. You hit every line and the best thing about you is that your expression is so natural. You become the dance, you’re never fake.”

It left them tied in third place on the latest leaderboard, alongside actor Lewis Cope and professional dancer Katya Jones, who danced a Cha Cha Cha to I Like It Like That by Pete Rodriguez.

Back to Karen and Carlos, and during Sunday’s (November 9) results show, the pair’s journey was confirmed to be continuing into week eight of Strictly’s 2025 series.

It’s been revealed that they’ll make their bid to be part of the show’s annual Blackpool special, set to take place on November 22, by performing an American Smooth to ‘You Don’t Own Me’ by SAYGRACE.

And Karen has been thinking about what’s ahead. Taking to Instagram with a snap of herself and Carlos following their latest appearance on Strictly spin-off It Takes Two, the Lioness said: “A fantastic evening with @fleureast at It Takes Two HQ. Back to ballroom this week and you know what that means… [heels, weary face and crying laughing face emoji].

“American Smooth choreography this week is TOUGH but getting to Blackpool would mean the world so giving it absolutely everything we have @gkx_carlos.”

Fans were determined to show their support. @teamkazlos said: “You looked so beautiful!! we’ll get you to Blackpool.” @strictlyscarlos commented: “The heels are back. You are going to be amazing!! got my fingers crossed for Blackpool.”

@ynwa9697 replied: “Us team Kazlos fans are your 12th player, if we’ve got anything to do with it, you better start packing your cases for Blackpool!” @janbeedle2 wrote: “Sooo want you to get to Blackpool; wear those heels with confidence.” @mimi.george8 added: “You’re gonna smash it! so excited for Saturday.”
