The Orange are 2-0 after dominant wins over Binghamton and Delaware State to start the 2025-26 season. There was plenty of hype and excitement surrounding freshman Kiyan Anthony, son of Hall of Famer Carmelo. Through two games he’s exceeded expectations, averaging 17 points on 66.7% from the field.

Anthony started in place of J.J. Starling in the Orange’s game against Delaware State, scoring 19 points on 11 shots. Starling missed the game with a right leg injury, and is considered as day-to-day. The senior averaged a team-leading 17.8 points last season. Anthony will likely head back to the bench upon Starling’s return from injury.

The Orange will play Drexel at the Xfinity Mobile Arena (not Drexel’s home court) in Philadelphia Saturday. It’s the first time Syracuse faced an unranked non-power conference team on the road since the 2006-07 season. It’s no coincidence that they’re playing at a site for the first two rounds of the 2026 NCAA Tournament. The Orange also played a game at the KeyBank Arena in Buffalo during the preseason, which is another tournament site.

“I just felt like it’s something that sends a good message to our team and our fans that, hey, this is what we’re trying to do,” Syracuse coach Adrian Autry said.
