Sam LaPorta injury update: Lions TE placed on injured reserve

Detroit Lions Jameson Williams hostile environments
Williams said the most hostile environments were at Texas A&M and Green Bay.
Sam LaPorta was placed on injured reserve Saturday afternoon with a back injury, sidelining the tight end for at least four games for the Detroit Lions.
He had already been ruled out for “Sunday Night Football” against the Philadelphia Eagles.
LaPorta must also miss games against the New York Giants (Nov. 23), Green Bay Packers (Nov. 27) and Dallas Cowboys (Dec. 4). The earliest he could return would be Week 15 on Dec. 14 at the Los Angeles Rams.
LaPorta has 40 catches on 49 targets for 489 yards and three touchdowns in nine games in 2025.
LaPorta, 24, was a second-round pick by the Lions out of Iowa in 2023, and had a record-breaking rookie season for a tight end with 86 catches on 120 targets for 889 yards and 10 touchdowns.
He had a more modest 2024 with 60 catches on 83 targets for 726 yards and seven scores.
