Everything to know about Pierce Brosnan’s five children as he reconciles with son Chris

Pierce Brosnan has thrilled fans by seemingly mending fences with his son, Chris.

The father and son had long endured a stormy relationship, which at one point saw the Hollywood star cut Chris off because of his drug addiction, but according to pals, they seem pretty close now.’

In fact, the duo were spotted enjoying a family meal together in London’s Notting Hill recently, and with that in mind, here’s everything to know about Pierce’s relationship with his five children, Charlotte, Chris, and Sean with his first wife, Cassandra, and Dylan and Paris, with his current wife, Keely.

Pierce married Cassandra Harris in 1980. The Australian actress and Bond girl had previously been married to Dermott Harris (brother of Richard Harris), with whom she shared two children, Charlotte, who was born in London in 1971, and Chris, who came along the following year.

They divorced when the children were very young, and when Dermott died in 1986, Pierce stepped in to adopt them with both taking his last name; however, their fledgling family would face more heartbreak just five years later when Cassandra died after a fight with ovarian cancer in 1991.

Charlotte nabbed a coveted place at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, and it was while she was a student that she got the heartbreaking news about her mum.

People reports that their loss saw Pierce and Charlotte become closer than ever, and seven years on from the tragedy, there was some wonderful news to share when Charlotte welcomed a daughter and Pierce’s first grandchild, Isabella.

This was followed by the arrival of a son, also with her longtime partner, Alex Smith, whom they named Lucas but the family was dealt another devastating blow when Charlotte was also diagnosed with ovarian cancer.

She and Alex married in 2013, months before the disease claimed her life at 41, almost the same age as her mother when she passed, aged 43.

In 2014, Pierce touched on his grief during an appearance at a Stand Up To Cancer, saying: ‘I held the generous, strong, beautiful hand of my first wife Cassie as ovarian cancer took her life much too soon. Just last year, I held the hand of my funny, wonderful daughter Charlotte before she, too, died from this wretched inherited disease.’

Chris, who turned 53 in 2025, struggled immensely with the death of his mother when he was just 19 years old. Pierce said four months on from the tragedy: ‘I can see the pain in Christopher’s eyes, the absence in his heart from his mother.’

Like his parents and sister, Chris was bitten by the showbiz bug and studied to be a screenwriter. He landed several assistant director gigs, according to his IMDB profile, including working on two of Pierce’s Bond films: ‘Tomorrow Never Dies ‘ and ‘The World Is Not Enough.’

He stepped fully into the spotlight by joining the cast of Celebrity Love Island in 2006. Chris also began dabbling in drugs.

In 2005, Pierce made the painful decision to ‘cut him off’, telling Playboy: ‘Christopher is still very lost. Shockingly so. I know where he is but he’s having a hard life. I can only have strong faith and believe he will recover. He has tested everybody in this family but none more so than himself. He knows how to get out. He doesn’t want to.

‘It’s painful because you shut down. You never completely cut them off, but I have cut Christopher off. I had to say: “Go. Get busy living, or get busy dying.” He has my prayers.’

More recently, Chris has hit the headlines for posting about conspiracy theories about COVID. There does seem to be hope for Piece and Chris’s relationship with a pal telling The Mirror: ‘They seem pretty close now. Chris has been working hard on his sobriety and has reconnected with his dad. Everyone is pleased for him.’

Sean Brosnan

Pierce and Cassandra’s third child, Sean, arrived in 1983 and was just eight years old when his mother passed.

Speaking on the Inner Space podcast, Sean, now 42, recalled: ‘I never really grieved when I was little. I mean, I remember viscerally the day my dad told me [my mother] passed… I remember not crying. And I said, “It’s okay, Daddy.” I was comforting him.’

Six months later, the realisation of the loss hit him hard, and he channelled his grief into anger. When he was involved in a car accident and given opioids for the pain he too developed an addiction, which would later inspire his career as an addiction counsellor.

In 2014, he married the actress Sanja Banic and described it as a ‘healing time.’ They have since welcomed two children, which Sean has described as ‘ a turning point’ in his life.

Sean has also turned his hand to acting over the years and won praise from his dad in 2024 for his return to the stage in Waiting For Godot.’

Pierce married journalist Keely Shay Smith ten years after Cassandra’s death in 2001 and they have since welcomed two sons, Dylan and Paris.

Dylan was born in 1997, making him 28 in 2025, and grew up between LA and Kauai in Hawaii, which he recalls as being idyllic and, by the sounds of things, very grounded.

He told GQ that he never realised his dad was so famous and assumed that the many fans who approached him were simply friends. Even when he travelled to the Bond set, he admits he didn’t quite join the dots, hilariously asking after the cars instead of noticing his dad’s skills in one particular scene.

Like his siblings, Dylan also has a keen interest in working in the film industry and studied at the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts.

He graduated in 2020 and has since worked on Willie Nelson & Family and The Synanon Fix.

In 2024, he made his acting debut in The Unholy Trinity with his dad and brother and has also dabbled in modelling for Burberry and Moschino, among others.

He has been linked to artist Avery Wheless since 2018.

The youngest member of the clan, Paris, arrived in February 2001, which makes him 24 in 2025.

Sticking with the family tradition, he graduated from the Loyola Marymount University School of Film & Television in 2023.

Since then, he has turned his hand to acting and filmmaking but is best known for his modelling and dapper style, which he credits to his dad.

‘I steal [his] clothes all the time. He does it so effortlessly. And he’s very comfortable; he doesn’t have to try at all. He’ll see me wearing something and he’ll be like “I used to have a jacket like that! And I’ll be like, “Well, it looks better on me now,’ he told People.

Paris is in a relationship with model Alex Lee Allion.
