Ireland snow update as clean-up from Storm Claudia continues

Temperatures are set to plummet over the coming days
Wintry falls are possible midweek
Winter is set to take hold next week as stormy conditions dissipate and temperatures plummet.
After parts of Ireland endured the brutal impacts of Storm Claudia on Friday, a major change in weather is forecast in the coming days.
Met Eireann expects temperatures to drop to freezing overnight on Sunday, with lows of -1C forecast for Monday night.
It may be Wednesday before wintry falls such as snow or sleet are experienced and it will be most likely in the north and northwest, according to the national forecaster.

“A cold but sunny day,” a Met Eireann spokesperson said of Wednesday. “Dry for most, however, showers will feed mainly into the north and northwest through the day, some of which will turn wintry. Highest temperatures of just 5 to 8 degrees in a fresh and gusty northerly wind, stronger near exposed coasts. Winds will ease through the evening and overnight.”
The clean-up operation from Storm Claudia continues this afternoon after heavy wind and buckets of rain affected parts of the country, with multiple weather warnings in place.
Downpours are anticipated to continue on Saturday, November 15, while breezy conditions are also expected to persist over the coming hours.
Delivering its forecast for today, Met Eireann said: “While there’ll be an improvement in weather conditions today, the impacts of recent heavy rainfall will continue in parts over the weekend, with further flooding possible in Leinster and Munster.
“It’ll continue mostly cloudy today with some mist, and with scattered of outbreaks of rain and drizzle, persistent for a time this afternoon across some northern parts of Leinster and in parts of south and east Ulster. However, there’s good dry spells in other areas, and it will generally become drier through the day as the rain and drizzle continues to ease, becoming lighter and patchier.
“Still breezy at first this afternoon across the northern half of the country, with moderate to fresh and occasionally gusty east to northeast winds, strong in some coastal parts, but the winds will continue to ease through the day becoming mostly light to moderate nationwide by evening. Highest temperatures of 7 to 14 degrees, mildest in the south.”
