Roman Kopylov and Gregory Rodrigues will meet in a middleweight bout at UFC 322. The fight takes place at Madison Square Garden in New York on November 15.
Kopylov holds the #15 spot in the middleweight rankings. The 34-year-old Russian fighter is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Paulo Costa at UFC 318 in July.
The loss to Costa ended a two-fight winning streak for Kopylov. He had previously defeated Cesar Almeida and Chris Curtis with stoppages.
During Wednesday’s UFC 322 media day, Kopylov addressed the Costa fight. He suggested that multiple reschedulings may have affected his performance.
“Last time, maybe there were some reasons, a lot of cancellations,” Kopylov said through a translator. “They moved the fight a couple times.”
Kopylov expressed confidence about his current training camp. “This time around, none of that was an issue,” he said. “We had a good camp, we got prepared.”

The Russian fighter joined the UFC in 2019 with an unbeaten record. He lost his first two fights in the promotion but rebounded strongly.
Kopylov went on a four-fight winning streak where he stopped all opponents with strikes. His winning run ended with a loss to Anthony Hernandez at UFC 298.
Earlier in 2025, Kopylov earned a bonus-winning head kick knockout of Chris Curtis. The finish came with just one second left in the fight.
Wrestling Could Be a Factor
Rodrigues enters the fight with an 8-3 record in the UFC. The 33-year-old Brazilian is known for his knockout power and aggressive style.
“Robocop” has experienced an inconsistent career pattern. He strings together wins before knockout losses derail his momentum.
Rodrigues was on a three-fight win streak before losing to Jared Cannonier in February. Cannonier stopped him in the fourth round of their main event fight.
The Brazilian bounced back at UFC 317 with a first-round knockout of Jack Hermansson. His victory earned him a “Performance of the Night” bonus.
Rodrigues stands 6-foot-3 with strong wrestling skills. Kopylov hasn’t struggled with takedown defense throughout his UFC career, posting an 87% takedown defense rate.
High-Action Fight Expected
The matchup promises action based on both fighters’ styles. Between them, they have made 21 UFC appearances but only gone to decision three times combined.
Roman Kopylov takes on @gregory_mma this weekend at #UFC322. RoboCop is undeniably a machine in there, but past fights suggest his jaw comes pre-loaded with a ‘power down’ feature. Kopylov has 12 knockout victories in his career. Rodrigues has 10 knockouts and four submission wins.
Both fighters expressed confidence during media day appearances. Kopylov predicted the fight could earn “Fight of the Night” honors.
“I’ve got a great opponent,” Kopylov said. “He’s a striker, I’m a striker. Most likely, this is going to be a really great fight for everybody.”
Rodrigues tweeted his readiness for the matchup. “I’m so ready for this fight,” the Brazilian wrote. He hopes to put on a memorable performance at Madison Square Garden.
UFC 322 features two title fights at the top of the card. Islam Makhachev challenges Jack Della Maddalena in the main event. Weili Zhang faces Valentina Shevchenko in the co-main event.
