Jon Jones’ Public Push to Fight at White House Is Wearing Dana White Down

Jon Jones has been working hard over the last month to do all he can to change Dana White’s mind and get added to the UFC’s card at the White House next year. The public campaign may be working.
While we are still many months away, the UFC’s planned event on the lawn of the White House in 2026 is one of the biggest stories in the sport. Having President Donald Trump attend UFC events was always a big win for the company. However, they are on the verge of doing something the NFL, NBA, and MLB will likely never match.
There have already been a boatload of fighters angling to be on the historic card that will see them start their walk to the Octagon in the Oval Office. Besides Conor McGregor, Jon Jones has been the most prominent fighter who wants to compete at the event. However, the big difference between the two UFC legends is that White has only been in favor of McGregor fighting on the card.

The UFC boss has been outspoken about not wanting Jones on the card. Most believe it is due to his past of last-minute dropouts, and how difficult he was in failed negotiations to make a heavyweight unification title fight against Tom Aspinall.
Yet, it hasn’t stopped Jones from trying to sway his heart. This week, he posted a political-style video to push for his inclusion on the card. And last week, he admitted in an interview that he messed up negotiations for an Aspinall fight earlier this year, and would like to apologize to White.
Dana White Shows he still has a soft spot in his heart for Jon Jones
Well, the UFC CEO was asked by TMZ Sports this weekend if he would accept Jones’ apology. White’s response showed he still has a soft spot in his heart for the MMA GOAT, and that is very good news for Jones.
“He doesn’t need to apologize to me for anything. Even with all of the bad stuff that Jon and I have been through, I still say that Jon Jones is the greatest of all time,” White said. “Everybody starts laughing when I say it. Dealing with Jon over the last years has been a unique experience, but it doesn’t change the fact that he’s the best ever.”
White could have quickly blown off the question like he does many others, since he has been asked about Jones a lot over the last six months. However, taking time to heap praise on the former two-division champion might be evidence that he could be wavering on keeping Jones off the 2026 White House card.
