DR power company set for work in Guyana

-even as questions remain unanswered
Representatives from Dominican Republic company InterEnergy will be in Guyana this week to commence mobilization works on a controversial US$15.4m management contract for the Guyana Power and Light (GPL) it signed last month, the utility company’s Chief Executive Officer Kesh Nandlall says.
“They have started doing work. The upfront works are to approve the engineer designs. They don’t have to be here to do that because they have appointed people to do that. They are coming this week to mobilize the project management aspect; who has to be on the ground and all of these things,” Nandlall told the Sunday Stabroek yesterday when asked for an update.
He said that since the contract was signed, the company has been working virtually with the design engineering team and it’s on ground representative to finalize that process.
Nandlall explained that an aspect of the contract also allows for the company to be given time to mobilize its ground support and other staff and set up accommodations here, as need be, for the technical people that would be sourced from different places.
