High-achievers Maria and Bailey, who’ve experienced both the highs and lows of MKR, found their stride in the semi-finals by embracing simplicity and precision.

Speaking on The Morning Show on Friday, ahead of the final showdown, the boss friends from South Australia said confidence was the key to their success and they never doubted they would make it this fair in the competition.

Now, they plan to use the pressure in the kitchen to their advantage.

“Bailey and I work amazing under pressure,” Maria said via video.

“And obviously in the grand final there’s so much pressure … but we always push through for the goal, which is to win MKR.”

The dads from NSW admitted while they weren’t initially worried about facing off against Maria and Bailey that changed after watching them cook in the semi-final.

The team from Adelaide won the judges over with their truffle pasta and duck egg crème caramel, sending Qld’s Logan and Lil home.

“Before that, they were just this weird dynamic up until the semi-finals,” Justin said.

“Then they were in unison and they worked so well as a team.

“So that made us a little bit nervous.”

But Justin and Will confessed they had saved their best tricks until last and remain determined to win, as they continue to “cook from our hearts”.

“We haven’t brought our ultimate until the grand final,” Justin confirmed.

Speaking about how they would spend the $100,000 prize money, Maria revealed she would use it to start her first shopfront for her cookie business Blondies, while Bailey would like to create an app that teaches young people how to cook.

Family men Justin and Will said the money would go along to support their children and treat their wives, who have been holding down the fort at home while they cooked up a storm on national television.

“It’s not just as winning, everyone’s going to win with this one,” Will said.

“We just want to make the kids proud.

“This has to the be the cook of our lives.”

With 100 plates to serve, the pressure in kitchen HQ will reach boiling point.

“This is the closest grand final I can remember,” judge Manu Feildel said.

Fellow judge Colin Fassnidge described the MKR grand finalists as “the most exciting cooks I’ve seen”.

Alongside family and friends, every contestant from the season will return to witness the ultimate final showdown.

Both teams will be pushed to their emotional and physical limits, with tears shed and nerves tested.

“We are never going to give up,” Maria said.
