‘Shaking with anger’: Golden Bachie finalist’s daughter slams Channel 9’s show edits

The daughter of Golden Bachelor finalist Sunny Long has taken aim at Channel 9 for a “forced edit” rivalry and not doing enough to stop racist trolls.

Chloe, an influencer and podcaster, has taken to TikTok this week to unload on the network for not moderating offensive comments and for making her mother a target.

“This is such a wholesome show, women supporting women,’’ Chloe said.

“Then why are you doing this forced edit where there’s a rivalry between Sunny and Kim?

“That was the most uncomfortable episode I’ve ever watched in my life. Episode 7 last night, I actually felt sick the entire time watching it.

“And of course this is going to create a breeding ground for more negative hateful comments.

“Like don’t pretend it’s a wholesome show when it’s not. Like they clearly love the competitiveness between women. Don’t piss me off.”

Chloe also exposed how her mother, widely considered a frontrunner to win the final rose from Barry “Bear” Myrden, was constantly vilified.

“Living in Australia with an Asian mum, I have seen mum experience so much racism,’’ Chloe said.

“And so, obviously, you know, her being on the show, I was terrified for that from the possible contestants and the Australian public. And it’s just worse than I could have imagined.

“I thought there would be some moderation from Channel 9. Like, it’s actually a joke. Top comments with … with 100 likes and they just leave it there.”

Chloe continued: “It is not OK. And obviously, you know, white boomers, unfortunately, you’re going to expect a lot of racism amongst that group. So maybe I should have known.

“But it is horrible, just so, so horrible. Like, I actually, I’m shaking with anger. I just, I hate it.”

Chloe then noted that Nine had taken action, turning off comments only on their family’s videos, after she spoke out.

“Thank you to everyone who has been so supportive, it truly means the world,’’ she said.

She and her sister Penny made a brief appearance during hometown visits on Monday’s episode when Myrden visited.

Chloe had a tense moment with Myrden when she asked if he was a feminist, to which he replied: “No”.

“This is an absolute deal-breaker. No matter what he says, I’m not a fan of him anymore,” Chloe said.

But it emerged that Bear didn’t understand the question and once they discussed it more he won them over.

Chloe said it was important to have the conversation because her mum is such a strong, independent woman.

It’s been confirmed that Myrden does find love in Sunday night’s finale, but it’s unclear of the current relationship status.

As revealed by the Herald Sun, the 61-year-old was whisked away from the Channel 9 marquee in the Birdcage on Melbourne Cup Day after he was said to be “blind” and had got too close for comfort to outgoing chair Catherine West.
