Shaheen Shah Afridi returned to lead the side after missing the last game due to fever as Pakistan made four changes, testing its bench strength.
Afridi replaced Naseem Shah while all-rounders Faheem Ashraf and left-arm spinner Faisal Akram came in for Mohammad Nawaz and Abrar Ahmed. Opening batter Haseebullah got his first game of the series after Saim Ayub was rested.
Sri Lanka also made four changes that included skipper Charith Asalanka, who is sick, and the visitors will be led by stand-in captain Kusal Mendis. Pavan Rathnayake was given his ODI debut and replaced Asalanka.
Spinner Jeffrey Vandersay and fast bowler Eshan Malinga will play their first game of the series in place of Wanindu Hasaranga and fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera. Sri Lanka beefed up its spin department and recalled Maheesh Theekshana as they left out fast bowler Asitha Fernando.
