Drivers are being advised to follow these diversions:
The northbound stretch is closed between J19 (Tabley, Knutsford) and J20 (Lymm).
Diverted traffic should follow the solid square diversion symbol and:
Leave the M6 northbound at J19.
At M6 J19/A556 Rbt, take third exit onto A556 NB and follow for 7.3km.
At A556/A56 Bowden Rbt, take forth exit and follow the link road from A556 Boudon Rbt to A556 Sb for 0.2km.
At A556/M56 Jct 8 Jct, turn onto M56 Jct 8 WB entry slip road and follow M56 WB for 8.5km.
Leave M56 WB at J9 to rejoin route on the M6 northbound
The southbound carriageway is closed at junction 19.
Traffic is being diverted via the exit and entry slip roads in what is known as an ‘up and over’ closure.
National Highways say: “If this closure impacts on your planned route, please allow extra journey time. Plan ahead, you may wish to re-route or even delay your journey.”
