Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. suffered a knee injury in the second half of Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers.
Penix is officially questionable to return.
Penix went down when he was hit hard on an incomplete pass to David Sills on third down in the middle of the third quarter. Penix was in clear discomfort following the play, tossing his helmet in frustration as he was attended to by Falcons medial staff.
Penix was able to walk off the field under his own power, however, but was later seen on the bench without his helmet as backup Kirk Cousins took over under center for Atlanta.
Penix is an efficient 13-of-16 passing for 175 yards on the day. Atlanta led 21-16 at the time of his injury.
