We’re *obsessed* with this celesbian couple

Ever since they went public with their relationship back in 2024, lesbian musicians Reneé Rapp and Towa Bird have established themselves as a celesbian power couple. Reneé has garnered a reputation for being outspoken and unfiltered in interviews, which has allowed fans to gain insights into the couple’s relationship – including the pegging joke that started it.
Reneé is an American singer-songwriter with an impressive resume. She’s not only portrayed the classic villain Regina George in the Broadway musical Mean Girls, she also reprised the role for the 2024 musical film adaptation. She also served up refreshing lesbian rep on HBO Max dramedy The Sex Lives Of College Girls. Since her debut EP, Everything To Everyone, the star has released two full-length studio albums, Snow Angel and Bite Me.
Towa is a British-Filipino singer-songwriter and guitarist who had quite the international upbringing. She was born in Hong Kong to a British father and a Filipino mother and grew up in both London and Thailand. She learned to play the electric guitar when she was 12 and the rest is queerstory. Her popularity boomed in 2020, when many of her covers went viral. Her debut album, American Hero, was released last year in June.
The Gen Z artists have certainly had a super gay love story. So, without further ado, let’s dive into their relationship timeline.
September 2023 – March 2024: Towa joins Reneé on tour
Months after being spotted posing together at an off-site party at Coachella, Towa served as the opening act on Reneé’s Snow Hard Feelings tour. Not only did Towa open for the Tummy Hurts singer, but she also joined Reneé on stage – and the two had electric chemistry. The duo also performed a stripped-down version of Linger by the Cranberries that sparked much dykish panic online.
February 2024: We get hints of their potential relationship
In an interview with Them, Towa confirmed that she has an “incredibly close” relationship with Reneé. Later that month, Reneé hinted to The Hollywood Reporter that she was seeing someone. “I’ve only recently started referring to myself as a lesbian, and I’ve only recently been in a relationship where I’m like, ‘Yeah, I’m a lesbian for sure,’” she told the publication.
10 March 2024: The duo hard launch their relationship and make their red carpet debut
The mesmerising musicians caused sapphic panic when they made their red carpet debut as a couple at Vanity Fair’s Oscars after party. They were both suited and booted to the tens and looked flawless. Fans commented things like: “YESS MOMMY AND MOTHER”, “This should be me”, “I KNEW IT” and “I’M SCREAMING”.

April 2024: The lovers share a smooch onstage at Coachella
Reneé’s set at Coachella was truly dykonic. Not only for sharing a kiss with her boo onstage, but also performing with pansexual star Kesha and inviting the cast of The L Word onto stage. But seriously, we’ll never get enough of seeing Towa and Reneé joining each other on stage and giving each other PDA proudly. We love their annual Coachella tradition.
May 2025: We found out how it all began
Sapphics got giddy when the Leave Me Alone singer appeared on the Good Hang with Amy Poehler. While Reneé didn’t offer specifics when it came to timings she served up lots of details on how she and Towa met. She confessed to Amy that, even before meeting, she thought the sapphic guitar shredding icon was “super talented” and “so f*cking cool”.
Reneé had wanted to be introduced to Towa for a while, and when they eventually were Reneé stated that Towa as “so f*cking mean” to her and that she loved it. She was impressed that Towa had “outflirted” her. And the two said I love you to each other during a date on the beach. What cuties!
June 2025: Reneé confesses that she wants to marry Towa
Reneé’s Cosmopolitan cover story interview treated fans to even more insight into the power couple’s relationship. Some highlights include: 1) She wants to marry Towa 2) They live in a “lesbian frat house” and 3) Their sex life is “amazing”.
August 2025: Towa flirts with Reneé on her At Least I’m Hot track
When Reneé’s Bite Me album came out, it not only became my most listened to album of the year, but it also featured Towa and Reneé having a flirty conversational exchange on the At Least I’m Hot track.
Towa asks “How you doin’ ‘Nae?”, Reneé confesses she’s been “Doin’ real bad”, to which Towa says: “Damn, but you look so fit”.
And continuing Reneé being a massive L Word fan, fans went feral when she collaborated with Jennifer Beals in a voice over from the song.
October 2025: Towa dances with her boo onstage for the Bite Me tour
And Towa hasn’t just featured on At Least Me Hot, she’s joined her boo onstage once more at the Bite Me tour and danced on stage to the song when Reneé performs it live. We’ll never get tired of them serving up unapologetic sapphic joy, lust and love onstage.
