J.K. Dobbins injury update: Latest on Broncos RB’s status for today’s game vs. Chiefs

Broncos legend John Elway explains why he’s bullish on Bo Nix NFL career
John Elway joins us to talk about the Broncos and his experience with Dupuytren’s contracture, a progressive condition impacting his hand health.
The Denver Broncos are in the midst of a fantastic surge, and Nov. 16 projects as their biggest game yet of the 2025 NFL campaign.
The Week 11 schedule serves up their first meeting of the season with the archrival Kansas City Chiefs (5-4), rulers of the AFC West since 2016. However it’s the Broncos (8-2), fueled by a seven-game winning streak, who currently sit perched atop the division, 2½ games ahead of the reigning conference champions. A loss Sunday might not quite be fatal to K.C., but it would just about eliminate the prospects of winning the AFCW for a 10th straight season.
Yet the Broncos will be without RB J.K. Dobbins, their most productive offensive player, against Kansas City’s sixth-ranked defense − potentially a crippling setback.
Here’s the latest on Dobbins before today’s 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff:
Is J.K. Dobbins playing today?
The Broncos ruled Dobbins out Friday, when he was unable to practice for a third straight day while dealing with a recently compromised foot. He was placed on injured reserve Saturday. Per multiple reports, he requires surgery that will likely end his season.
Dobbins was hurt during a 10-7 win over the Las Vegas Raiders on Nov. 6.
Injuries are nothing new for a player taken by the Baltimore Ravens in the second round of the 2020 NFL draft. Dobbins missed the entire 2021 season with a torn ACL and nearly all of 2023 with a ruptured Achilles. He played 13 games for the Los Angeles Chargers in 2024 and appeared in each of Denver’s first 10 games this year before going down yet again.
J.K. Dobbins stats entering Week 11
Along with QB Bo Nix, the sixth-year back has produced the bulk of the offensive output for a unit that ranks 17th in scoring and 13th overall and has typically struggled noticeably of late before finding a fourth-quarter groove.
▶ Dobbins currently leads the Broncos with 772 rushing yards, good for fifth in the NFL and 558 more than any of his teammates.
▶ Dobbins’ 164 touches are more than double that of Denver rookie RB RJ Harvey (75). Dobbins’ 809 yards from scrimmage also lead the team with WR Courtland Sutton second (590).
