Kings, Kempe agree to 8-year, $85 million contract extension

The Los Angeles Kings and forward Adrian Kempe have agreed to a eight-year, $85 million contract that carries a cap hit of $10.63 million per season.

Kempe, 29, was on the final season of a four-year, $22 million deal and was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.

The 6-foot-2 centre leads the Kings this season with six goals and 19 points in 19 games. He had 35 goals and 73 points in 81 games last season, two short of a career high.

Drafted 29th overall by the Kings in 2014 he has 200 goals and 420 points in 649 career games.

The Kramfors, Sweden native represented his country four times at the World Hockey Championship, taking home a gold medal in 2018 and bronze medal in 2024. He also represented Sweden at the 4 Nations Face Off last season and was named one of Sweden’s first six players for their roster at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy.
