November 14, 2025/Midnight
Erie, PA. – The world of magic is stirring once more. Nearly a year after Wicked enchanted audiences with its shimmering shades of green and light from the land of Oz, Universal Pictures is opening the gates of magic again with Wicked: For Good – the long-awaited conclusion to the saga of two witches caught between good and evil, friendship and fate.
“Wicked” is a film adaptation of the acclaimed novel and Broadway musical of the same name. The film quickly became a focal point of attention, featuring two powerhouse vocalists, Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, in the main roles – igniting curiosity about their on-screen chemistry and anticipation for the chance to experience their captivating voices in a cinematic setting.
Wicked, released at the end of 2024, retells the story of two witches – Elphaba (played by Cynthia), a girl with green skin who has been shunned and discriminated against since childhood, and Glinda (played by Ariana), a beautiful witch adored by everyone. The first part of the film portrays the growth of their unlikely friendship while revealing Elphaba’s gradual descent into darkness, as her extraordinary magical powers are exploited – transforming her into the “Wicked Witch” feared across the land of Oz.

Wicked brought tremendous success to Universal Pictures, becoming the highest-grossing film adaptation of a Broadway musical during its opening weekend, surpassing even Mamma Mia!, according to NBC. On Rotten Tomatoes, Wicked earned an impressive 88% approval rating from critics and 95% from audiences, reaffirming the film’s powerful appeal in both storytelling and emotional impact.
As a musical adaptation, Wicked naturally shines through its music – the film’s most anticipated element. Upon release, the songs Popular and Defying Gravity captivated listeners with Cynthia’s powerful vocals and Ariana’s soaring high notes, dominating the Billboard charts. The Wicked soundtrack debuted at No. 2 on Billboard 200, marking the highest ever debut for a stage-to-screen musical album.
With a poignant ending, Elphaba realizes she has been exploited for her extraordinary powers and chooses to fly away on her broom, her image forever branded as the “wicked witch.” From there, Wicked: For Good picks up the story, following the reunion of the two witches – now on opposing sides. No longer the carefree roommates they once were, they must now face a painful choice between ideals and friendship, as the line between good and evil blurs more than ever.
In addition, music remains one of the most anticipated highlights of Wicked: For Good, featuring two brand-new songs – “No Place Like Home” and “The Girl in the Bubble.” These additions, entirely original to the film, promise to deliver powerful emotions while adding new depth to the story of the two witches.
Wicked: For Good is set to premiere on Nov. 21, just one day before the one-year anniversary of the release of the Wicked.
