One Eagles stat proves Quinyon Mitchell will stop every NFL offense with ease

“Quintanimo Bay” remains active after another impressive performance by the 2024 first-round pick.
Per “Next Gen Stats,” Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Quinyon Mitchell is allowing a 49% completion percentage against and ranks second behind only Patrick Surtain in the NFL in average separation when targeted this season.
He’s also been targeted more this season (17.8%) compared to his rookie campaign (14.1%). His 2025 season continues to possibly be one of the Eagles’ best in the secondary, with only allowing 25 receptions on 55 pass attempts, per Pro Football Focus. Additionally, Mitchell’s passer rating against him at 60.3 is the lowest among cornerbacks who have played over 500 defensive snaps.
It’s a common trend that Eagles fans know well, but NFL fans need to start taking notice
Mitchell’s emergence as a budding All-Pro is highly welcomed, especially with the volatility across the field from him. The Eagles have attempted to find him a suitable “running mate” with Jakorian Bennett (injured), Adoree’ Jackson, and Kelee Ringo while trading for Michael Carter II, along with Jaire Alexander (inactive).
This past game, Mitchell allowed two receptions for 24 yards on seven targets while holding his competition to a 41.4 passer rating allowed. Mitchell also added two tackles and two passes defended as well.
Mitchell, this year, has continued to develop in defensive coordinator Vic Fangio’s system, essentially locking down one side of the field for the Philadelphia defense. He’s allowed only one touchdown while continuing to help the Eagles’ pass rush, leading to “coverage sacks” and pressures.
Mitchell’s supreme play has also allowed for 2024 second-round pick Cooper DeJean to remain in the nickel back position (for the most part), allowing the Eagles to maximize their “best 11” on the field.

Mitchell and the Eagles are slated to take on the Detroit Lions in week eleven, an offense that has consistently put up points and yards after the catch. Mitchell will be tasked with negating Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams, both of whom are on pace to eclipse 1,000 yards receiving and close to 10 receiving touchdowns this year.
