Warriors spoil Borrego’s debut as Pelicans interim coach
A head coaching change didn’t help the New Orleans Pelicans, who lost 124-106 to the Golden State Warriors in their first game since firing Willie Green.
New Orleans let Green go on Saturday after they lost 10 of their first 12 games in his fifth season as the team’s head coach.
Former Charlotte Hornets head coach James Borrego took over on an interim basis, but it wasn’t enough to spark the Pelicans (2-11) as they dropped their fifth straight game.
Moses Moody led the way with career highs of 32 points and eight three-pointers for Golden State, who posted their season-best third consecutive victory to improve to 9-6.
Trey Murphy III had 20 points, eight rebounds and three steals for New Orleans.
