Birmingham weather set for ‘windy start’ but break in Storm Claudia coming

Birmingham, along with most of the UK, was battered by Storm Claudia yesterday, causing heavy downpours and flooding.
Handsworth was one of the areas that was flooded, causing damage to vehicles and homes.
Thankfully, a break in the storm is coming, and next week looks set to be a lot sunnier, and more importantly, drier.

The weather headline is this: “Cloudy and cold with some sunshine on Sunday.”
For today, the Met Office forecasts: “A murky start with spots of rain and drizzle. Turning drier but it is likely to remain cloudy through much of the day.
“Windy to start though any strong, gusty winds easing. Feeling cold under cloudy skies. Maximum temperature 11 °C.
“Lots of cloud sticking around through this evening and overnight.
“This could bring some spots of drizzle. Otherwise light winds and feeling chilly. Minimum temperature 5 °C.
Looking ahead to Sunday, the Met Office adds: “Cloud clearing through Sunday morning allowing some sunny spells into the afternoon but it will feel notably colder, with a touch of frost overnight. Maximum temperature 10 °C.”
As for next week, the weather is taking a turn for the better, with even some sunshine predicted to make a return.
The weather authority adds: “Into the new week it will continue to feel cold, particularly in brisk winds.
“Overnight frosts are likely with a chance of some showers on Wednesday.”
