Liberal leader told to stand down

Liberal Victoria leader Brad Battin could be rolled as soon as Tuesday after her reportedly was told he had lost support of the party room.

The Herald Sun reported shadow treasurer Jess Wilson is tipped to become the state’s new opposition leader after Mr Battin was told to stand down.

There is expected to be a full leadership spill on Tuesday, which will lead to a vote for Mr Battin, who succeeded John Pesutto last December, and a vote for the deputy roll, currently held by Sam Groth.

Mr Battin’s leadership woes follow another poor opinion poll showing the Coalition’s primary vote falling six points to 37 per cent while Labor has improved its vote from 30 to 32 per cent.
