Jane McDonald halts Channel 5 show as she chokes back tears and admits ‘I’m worried’

Jane McDonald became visibly emotional during a classic episode of her travel programme, Jane McDonald: Lost in Japan, after receiving a moving message about her destiny.

Whilst recording for the Channel 5 series, set to air on Sunday, the former cruise ship entertainer shared a glimpse into what awaited her and was presented with an O-mikuji, a paper slip that reveals your fortune.

“Is there anything bad in there?” Jane anxiously enquired of the tour guide.

Before Jane revealed her fortune, the tour guide cautioned her about a potentially unfavourable destiny but assured the star that any misfortune could be readily overcome.

Upon selecting her paper to discover her daily horoscope, Jane emotionally read aloud to viewers: “Wow. I feel as if I was strongly on the spring fields with my family, so comfortable,” reports the Mirror.

“Wow, that is quite emotional, actually, isn’t it?” Jane continued, battling to suppress her tears.

“You could realise almost everything as if you could drive easily on a downhill road,” she proceeded.

“Work hard and believe, and you will be successful just like grass grows thanks to the rain heaven gives.”

“This is just so, so beautiful,” she declared before enquiring, “So this is good luck?”

“This is good luck,” the tour guide confirmed as Jane said with a sigh of relief: “Thank goodness for that, I was a bit worried about that.”

In a tender embrace, Jane conveyed her sincere appreciation to the guide for deepening her knowledge of Japanese customs. Elsewhere in the show, Jane tried her hand at origami – the Japanese art of paper folding – and even gave sumo wrestling a go.

She also had the opportunity to showcase her singing talents, albeit in a local karaoke bar.

Jane had a fantastic time belting out tunes with other participants, with many opting to perform ‘I Will Survive’.

A repeat of Jane McDonald: Lost in Japan airs on Sunday at 10am on Channel 5.
