Keith’s first post since split: ‘Learn a lot’

Keith Urban has made his return to social media for the first time since news of his divorce to Nicole Kidman was made public.

After remaining silent online since September when Kidman filed for divorce after 19 years of marriage, the singer shared his first post on Instagram over the weekend.

The 58-year-old shared a clip from his new show The Road, a reality competition hosted by Blake Shelton that follows 12 emerging country music stars competing as opening acts for Urban on his US tour.

In the clip, he and fellow country music star Shelton looked back on some of the looks they’ve rocked in their careers.

“You know you learn a lot when you’ve been on the road for more than a few years … especially when it comes to your hair. right @keithurban??? @theroadcbs #TheRoad,” read the caption of the post shared by Shelton and reposted by Urban.

The pair laughed at some of their hairstyles, many of which they admit were questionable.

“You and I have both been in Nashville since the ‘90s and we went through some awkward phases,” Shelton joked before revealing the first pic of Urban with long blonde hair.

“Well, that’s what I looked like when I first got here, and I couldn’t for the life of me figure out why I couldn’t get signed,” Urban joked before adding that he “didn’t know what the hell was going on” with his hair.

During the show, which premiered in the US on CBS and Paramount+ on October 19, Urban also opened up about life on the road, sharing an honest insight into his life in a prerecorded interview before his split from Kidman.

In the very first episode, the country music star got candid in front of the cameras as he discussed being “completely lonely and miserable” while on tour and being away from his family.

“Where do we start? It’s a calling, and you’re going to do it or you’re not going to make it,” he explained.

“When you wake up on a tour bus at 3:30 in the morning and you’re sick as a dog, you’re in the middle of nowhere and you’ve got to play your fifth show later that night, and you haven’t slept, and you miss your friends, and you’re missing your family, and you’re completely lonely and miserable and sick — and you say to yourself, ‘Why am I doing this?’

“The only answer can be: Because this is what I’m born to do,” he continued.

Urban’s candid comments about his life emerged weeks after Kidman filed for divorce on September 30 after almost two decades of marriage and two children.

According to sources close to the pair, their hectic work schedules – the country singer is on tour, and the actress has had back-to-back filming commitments – resulted in a “lack of intimacy” which ultimately fuelled the shock break-up.
