MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – Madison Police Department is investigating after a person was shot Sunday night on Madison’s west side.
Madison Police officers responded to a business just after 10 p.m. in the area of the 600 block of South Whitney Way for a person with a gunshot wound.
WMTV crews reported seeing police activity near the Taco Bell on S. Whitney Way.

According to MPD, first responders found the victim and provided the individual with first aid.
Officials took the victim to a hospital, and said the victim is expected to be OK.
MPD officers stayed in the area to investigate and do not believe there is a threat to the public.
The Madison Police Department Violent Crimes Unit is taking over the investigation.
