MIDDLETOWN, CT – Carill Asanji and Johnny Troiano provided the goals, and Travis Holiday notched the shutout, as Rowan defeated #11 Wesleyan (CT), 2-0, in the Second Round of the 2025 NCAA Division III Men’s Soccer Championship. The Profs (17-3-4) have punched their ticket to the NCAA Sectionals and the round of 16 for the first time since 2019.

The Profs will face Emory, which was a 3-0  winner over Hampden-Sydney, on November 22nd, at 3:30 p.m. at the University of Lynchburg.

Asanji got things started near the end of the first half as he jumped on a misplay by Wesleyan’s keeper Mathis Blanc, and knocked it in at 43:05. It was the junior’s second game-winning goal of the season.

After the break for halftime, Rowan scored again as Aiden McGuigan sent a long ball up the field to Troiano. The Profs’ leading scorer connected on a shot from outside the box at 46:29 that got past Blanc for his 19th goal of the year.

Holiday recorded his fifth consecutive shutout, which encompasses all the games of the conference championship and the two NCAA matches. The senior made six saves as Wesleyan (10-5-4) outshot the Profs, 20-10.

It will be Rowan’s first trip to the Third Round since 2019.
