Peace Wapiti Public School Division Cancels All Buses Due to Freezing Rain

In a recent weather update impacting school transportation, the Peace Wapiti Public School Division announced that all school buses will be cancelled for the entire day due to freezing rain conditions. A total of 79 bus routes have been affected, causing disruptions for students and families relying on this service. The cancelled routes include numbers 344, 350, 366, 370, 371, 377, 379, 380, 381, 383, 385, 387, 388, 390, 392, 394, 395, 398, 399, 400, 402, 403, 404, 405, 406, 411, 412, 414, 415, 416, 418, 419, 420, 421, 423, 424, 425, 428, 429, 430, 432, 433, 434, 435, 436, 438, 439, 440, 441, 443, 444, 445, 446, 447, 448, 449, 450, 451, 452, 453, 455, 456, 457, 458, 460, 461, 462, 464, 465, 466, 467, 468, 469, 470, 471, 472, 473, 474, 475, 476, 477, 478, 479, 481, 482, 483, 484, 485, 486, 487, 488, 489, 490, 491, 492, 493, 494, 495, and 496, with Route 468 also specifically listed as cancelled.

Conversely, the Grande Prairie Catholic School Division, along with the Grande Prairie Public School Division and Valhalla Community School, reported that all of their school buses are operating normally and running on schedule, unaffected by the adverse weather conditions.

In the Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation, however, all school buses have been cancelled, echoing the sentiments of the Peace Wapiti Public School Division regarding safety concerns for students. In a contrast to these cancellations, the Horse Lake First Nation stated that all its school buses are running on their regular routes.

Parents and students are encouraged to stay updated on transportation services through their respective school divisions as weather conditions may change throughout the day.
