Madison Fire: 1 found dead after vehicle fire on Highway 51 frontage road

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – One person is dead Monday after a vehicle fire on the frontage road of Highway 51 at Buckeye Road, the Madison Fire Department said.

MFD said crews arrived just before 11:45 a.m. to southbound Highway 51 at Buckeye Road.

Firefighters removed one person from a vehicle, and determined the individual was dead.

The person’s identity was not revealed.

A cause of the vehicle fire was not clear.

A WisDOT alert sent out around 12:20 p.m. said US 51 northbound from Pflaum Road to Buckeye Road is closed because of a crash.

MFD said law enforcement is investigating this death. The WisDOT alert said Dane County Sheriff’s Department is responding.

Around the same time, law enforcement were responding to a multi-vehicle crash and fire that happened on the Madison Beltline at Todd Drive on Monday.
