Senators acquire D Gilbert from Flyers for RFA D Guenette

The Ottawa Senators have acquired defenceman Dennis Gilbert from the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for restricted free agent defenceman Maxence Guenette.

The Flyers then signed Guenette to a one-year, two-way contract.

Gilbert, 29, last played in the NHL with the Sens in the 2024-25 season, registering one assist in four games. He was originally selected 91st overall by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2015 NHL Draft. Gilbert has three goals and 20 points in 11 NHL games with the Blackhawks, Senators, Colorado Avalanche, Buffalo Sabres, and Calgary Flames.

Guenette, 24, played 58 games with the AHL’s Belleville Senators last season, scoring nine goals and adding 14 assists for 23 points. He was originally drafted by the club in the seventh round of the 2019 NHL Draft.
