‘Caught Stealing’: Austin Butler and Zoë Kravitz’s Overlooked Summer Movie Sets Netflix Streaming Date

Darren Aronofsky returns with his first film since the Oscar-winning A24 drama The Whale. Caught Stealing hit theaters on August 29 and now has its Netflix date set for November 29, but only in the United States and a couple of other regions for the moment.
Starring Austin Butler (Elvis) and Zoë Kravitz (The Batman) with an ensemble that includes Regina King, Matt Smith, Vincent D’Onofrio, and Liev Schreiber, this gritty crime thriller mixed with a touch of dark comedy follows a former baseball player who stumbles into a dangerous criminal underworld in 1990s New York City.
The film has picked up strong reviews, already sitting with a Certified Fresh badge on Rotten Tomatoes. Time Out called it “decently entertaining,” while The Movie Minute highlighted Butler’s performance as a standout. Ty Burr at The Washington Post took a more measured view, saying, “Half the fun, no, all the fun, of Darren Aronofsky’s grubby, gritty New York crime thriller is playing Spot the Star,” later adding that, “There are pleasures here, but you have to have the patience for them.”
The movie performed modestly at the box office, grossing over $30 million, albeit falling short of its ultimate budget.
When will Netflix US stream Caught Stealing?
Thanks to the 2021 Netflix and Sony Pictures output deal, Caught Stealing was always guaranteed to arrive on the service. Netflix holds the first pay window in the United States, meaning Sony titles land once their theatrical and PVOD windows finish.
While many Sony films tend to arrive around 120 days after release, that pattern has never been set in stone. Some titles take longer, others appear much sooner. In this case, Netflix has confirmed that Caught Stealing will arrive in the United States on November 29, which places it notably earlier than the standard window.
As always, though, with Sony Pictures movies, you won’t be able to watch this on Netflix’s ad tier, as it’s locked to premium tiers.

After landing on Netflix US, the movie will remain available for 18 months before shifting to Hulu and Disney+, which will be in late May 2027. You can browse our full guide to every Sony Pictures movie to hit Netflix in 2025 for more context on how the first window deal works.
Will Netflix internationally stream Caught Stealing?
Yes, but timing varies widely from region to region. India tends to receive Sony titles around the same time as the United States, although this is not guaranteed for every film. Most other countries pick them up between two and four years after theatrical release.
The United Kingdom, which holds the second pay window for Sony films, is expected to receive Caught Stealing sometime in early to mid-2027.
Are you planning to catch Caught Stealing in theaters or will you hold out until it drops on Netflix? The comments await your thoughts.
