Report: Spurs’ Wembanyama expected to miss multiple weeks with calf injury

Wembanyama has jumped out of the gates in Year 3 for the first-overall pick in 2023. He’s averaging 26.2 points, 12.9 rebounds (second in the NBA), 4.0 assists, 1.1 steals and a league-leading 3.6 blocks.
It was a strong bounce-back for the French phenom after his sophomore campaign was cut short — appearing in just 46 games after being diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis (blood clot) in his right shoulder. Despite being sidelined from the end of February until the end of the season, Wembanyama was able to earn his first all-star nod thanks to averages of 24.3 points, 11.0 rebounds and 3.8 blocks.
The former Rookie of the Year had spearheaded San Antonio’s 9-4 start, good for fifth in the Western Conference, as he played in the Spurs’ first 12 games of the year before sitting out Sunday’s win over the Sacramento Kings.
