How Did Paul George Fare in Injury Return? NBA Fans Weigh In After 76ers Beat Clippers

In Paul George’s season debut, the Philadelphia 76ers held on for a tight 110-108 home win over the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday.

Seeing his first game action since March, when a left knee injury in a workout sidelined him, fans were eager for their first real look at George in a Sixers uniform after he signed a four-year, $212 million contract in free agency over the summer.

George posted nine points, seven rebounds, three assists and two blocks on 2-of-9 shooting against his former team. Tyrese Maxey led the way for Philadelphia with 39 points and six assists.

For the Clippers, James Harden finished with 28 points, five assists and six rebounds, but he couldn’t seal the deal, missing two potential game-winning three-pointers in the final seconds.

Fans reacted to George’s return as the 76ers won on Monday.

With the win, the 76ers improved to 8-5 and the Clippers fell to 4-10, winning one of its eight last games.

Los Angeles took a 10-point lead into halftime, powered by 18 points from Harden. Maxey led the 76ers with 12 points at the break, while George added seven in his debut half.

Philadelphia mounted a late push in the fourth quarter, with clutch shots from Maxey helping the 76ers claw back and briefly take the lead. Both teams traded buckets down the stretch, and both coaches used their challenges in the final minutes.

The 76ers held a two-point lead when Maxey turned it over with 11.7 seconds remaining, giving the Clippers a chance to steal the win. Harden missed back-to-back three-pointers, however, and Philadelphia escaped with the win.

The 76ers will host Toronto on Wednesday.
