Through 10 weeks of the 2025 NFL season, the Washington Commanders have had their starting quarterback and lead wide receiver play in the same game twice: Week 1 and Week 2.
That won’t change in Week 11, as the Commanders will play a third game this season – and second straight – without either one of them. Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels remains sidelined with his dislocated elbow, and wide receiver Terry McLaurin has been ruled out for a second straight game with a quad injury.
Unlike Daniels, McLaurin did travel with the Commanders to Madrid. But head coach Dan Quinn told reporters Nov. 12 that McLaurin will only be continuing the “on-field portion of [his] rehab” ahead of Week 11.

When will Terry McLaurin return?
McLaurin continued to progress through the rehab process for his quad injury during practice sessions in Week 11.
The Commanders’ leading receiver previously missed four games – Weeks 4 through 7 – while dealing with the quad injury he sustained in Week 3. During his return in Week 8, McLaurin re-aggravated his injury and subsequently missed Washington’s next two games.
He’ll miss at least one more this week as the Commanders ruled him out of their Week 11 game against the Miami Dolphins in Madrid. McLaurin did travel with the team to participate in an on-field rehab process with team trainers, according to Quinn. Provided there are no setbacks, he may be able to return by Week 13 after Washington’s Week 12 bye.
“Sometimes these injuries take longer than you want,” Quinn said Nov. 12.
Prior to this season, McLaurin had missed four games in his entire career. He will already have missed nearly double that this year alone when he misses a seventh game in Week 11. McLaurin’s streak of five straight seasons with over 1,000 receiving yards amid quarterback turmoil in Washington will end.
In four games this year, the Commanders’ usual No. 1 receiver has 13 catches for 203 yards and one touchdown.
Commanders WR depth chart
Washington has five healthy receivers on its active roster in Week 11.
Samuel (trade) and Lane (2025 fourth-round pick) are two newcomers to the Commanders’ roster this year. Samuel has taken over the No. 1 receiver role for Washington in McLaurin’s injury-related absences, while Lane has mostly contributed as a punt returner this season.
Burks, Chosen and Jones were all on the Commanders’ practice squad as recently as two weeks ago and have been elevated as reinforcements in the receiving corps. Burks needed surgery on his finger, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Nov. 10, and did not travel with the team to Madrid for Week 11.
In addition to the five healthy receivers on its active roster, Washington has a veteran and a rookie on its practice squad: River Cracraft is the vet who re-signed to the practice squad on Nov. 11; Ja’Corey Brooks is the rookie.
