Spotify Crashes When Playing Podcast: Latest Fixes & Why It’s Happening

Spotify Crashes When Playing Podcast

Spotify’s been causing some frustration lately, especially if podcasts are your thing. Many users have been dealing with the app crashing when trying to listen to podcasts. So, what’s going on? Well, if you’ve found yourself stuck with the app closing out on you or not opening at all, you’re definitely not alone. There have been reports all over X (formerly Twitter), with users like @wiscowreckers saying, “You’re app won’t play podcasts and crashes.”

and @StorageStache1 mentioning their app “won’t even open, crashes before the app even loads.”

Spotify is on it, though. @SpotifyCares jumped in to assure users they’re working on a fix. In the meantime, they suggest keeping auto-updates on so you can get the fix as soon as it’s available: “Be sure to keep automatic updates switched on so you get the fix when it’s ready.” They also recommend using the web player if you’re tired of the crashes.

If you’re still stuck with a crashing app, try reinstalling. It’s a common solution for fixing all sorts of Spotify glitches. Here’s the lowdown for different devices:

iOS:

  • Hold the app icon, tap “Remove App,” and delete it.

  • Go to the App Store and reinstall.

  • For a clean reinstall, clear the app cache and follow the steps to delete the app via iPhone Storage. Then restart your device.

Android:

  • Uninstall the app from Settings > Apps > Spotify.

  • Reinstall from Google Play.

  • For a clean reinstall, clear storage/cache and delete the com.spotify.music folder from your device storage. Then reinstall.

Mac & Windows:

Seems like a bit of a hassle, but it might just be the best workaround for now. Keep those fingers crossed for that fix! And remember, a clean reinstall is always a good go-to when things start acting weird with apps.
