Man’s incredible $20m win in first lotto entry

A man who bought his first-ever Oz Lotto ticket on a hunch has snagged the entire $20m jackpot, after checking his ticket a fortnight later.
The Newtown man held the only division one winning entry nationally in Oz Lotto’s draw 1655, pulled on November 4 – securing the $20m jackpot.
He did not realise he had won the mammoth prize until finally checking his ticket, which had been languishing in his drawer for two weeks.
Speaking to The Lott, the man said: “I’m sitting here on my bed thinking, ‘What the hell is going on?’.”
“You know what, this is my first Oz Lotto ticket. Something just told me to play this game,” he continued.
“I usually play Powerball, but not all the time. But then a few weeks ago, I was getting a Powerball ticket and I thought I’d just get one for Oz Lotto too – something I’ve never done before.”
The man said the win had “made his year” and he planned to use his fortune to buy a house.
His winning ticket was purchased at Broadway Newsagency in Glebe.
The newsagency’s owner Chirayu Oza said he was thrilled to hear his mystery winner had been united with his prize.
“I felt a good, happy dose of shock knowing that it would change someone’s life for good,” he said upon learning the store had sold the $20m ticket.
“During the past seven years, we’ve sold more than five division one winning tickets and can’t wait to sell more.
“I wish our winner all the best. I hope this makes a life-changing difference to them and the people around them.”
The winning numbers in Oz Lotto draw 1655 were 21, 17, 43, 25, 12, 18 and 14, while the supplementary numbers were 15, 42 and 24.
