Quebec Liberal parliamentary leader Marwah Rizqy fires chief of staff

Quebec Liberal MNA Marwah Rizqy has been suspended from the Liberal caucus and has lost her position as parliamentary leader due to a “breach of trust.”
Liberal Leader Pablo Rodriguez announced the decision Tuesday morning in a press release following the dismissal of Rizqy’s former chief of staff, who is a close associate of Rodriguez’s.
The party leader’s press release states that the MNA for Saint-Laurent dismissed Geneviève Hinse “without consulting the leader and without providing an explanation.”
“This difficult but necessary measure aims to ensure the cohesion and proper functioning of the Liberal caucus in the National Assembly,” the release states.
The MNA for Pontiac, André Fortin, will assume the position of parliamentary leader, replacing Rizqy. The MNA for Lafontaine and former interim leader, Marc Tanguay, will become the caucus whip.
In an internal memo, Rizqy announced that Hinse was “no longer employed” and was being replaced immediately by the director of operations, Isabelle Lord.
Rodriguez does not hold a seat in the National Assembly as he was not elected.
