Landing on the platform on November 18, Broadchurch features David Tennant and Olivia Colman in the leading roles as Detective Inspector Alec Hardy and Detective Sergeant Ellie Miller.

Accompanying them to form an impressive ensemble cast are Jodie Whittaker, Andrew Buchan, Arthur Darvill, Carolyn Pickles, Jonathan Bailey, Matthew Gravelle, Charlotte Beaumont and Adam Wilson – all of whom featured throughout the programme’s three series, reports the Express.

Based in the fictional English town of Broadchurch on the Dorset coastline, the acclaimed series initially debuted in April 2013 and earned seven BAFTA nominations for its opening series alone.

Colman secured the Best Actress BAFTA for her performance as Ellie, whilst David Bradley claimed the award for Best Supporting Actor.

The programme also won the prestigious Best Drama Series accolade.

The series also claimed a Peabody Award for its inaugural series.

The British crime drama boasts an impressive average rating of a staggering 92 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes across its three series, and has received widespread acclaim from both critics and audiences, with one reviewer declaring: “It’s among the best detective shows – and perhaps even among the best dramas – in several years.

“It will break your heart and keep you guessing all the way through.”

Another critic, in a rave review of the opening series, penned: “Broadchurch is based on a generic premise, but nothing feels stale.

“With depth and passion, Colman brings her character’s profound questioning to vibrant life.”

A third reviewer commented on the programme’s second series: “After the brilliant first season of Broadchurch came to a devastating conclusion, I didn’t think a second season was necessary.

“I was wrong.”

Praising both the leading actors, one critic noted: “Most viewers will probably tune in to see Tennant in a dark and unfamiliar role, but as great as he is in the role, the real standout performance comes from Olivia Colman.”

Viewer reviews were equally outstanding, with one fan penning: “Absolutely amazing.

“The story was absolutely thrilling and had me completely hooked the whole way through.

“All the actors were absolutely class, especially David Tennant and Olivia Coleman.

“This is a must watch.”

One viewer penned a glowing review, stating: “Incredible cinematography.

“Compelling, emotional acting.

“Beautiful setting. The story and characters are so real that it’s impossible not to binge.

“I was enthralled for the entire season, even though the show has no gore, no shootouts, and none of the over the top sensational graphics that are so often seen in crime thrillers.”

Meanwhile, another fan of the series remarked: “An absolute revelation, it’s something I never quite expected.

“Broadchurch is deep, analytical, dark and… well, unforgettable.

“Loved it.”

Broadchurch will be available to stream on Netflix from 18 November and can currently be viewed for free on ITVX.
