Everton have ambitious plans on and off the pitch to challenge some of the Premier League’s biggest clubs.

Roundhouse Capital Holdings Limited revealed a £107m raise in funds for the Toffees on Monday, and David Moyes has already placed several targets on his radar.

Everton want to sign a striker to compete with the underperforming Beto and Thierno Barry, while a versatile defender is necessary for the Merseyside outfit to achieve success.

But the link that will excite supporters the most is Everton planning to break their transfer record to sign Scott McTominay, with Napoli demanding over £60million for the midfielder.

McTominay was linked with Everton in 2024 before he joined the Italian giants, while a return to England would signal their intent.

Romelu Lukaku’s comments on ‘lethal’ Scott McTominay

When discussing the 28-year-old’s potential transfer to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, fans will value the opinion of former goal machine Romelu Lukaku.

The Belgian international has played 73 times with McTominay during his time at Manchester United and now at Napoli.

Speaking in October 2024, Lukaku praised his teammate as ‘lethal’ while pointing out how much he understands his game.

“He knows my game, we played together in Manchester for two years,” the forward said via Manchester Evening News. “I know his ability in front of goal is lethal, we expect many goals and assists from him. He is doing very well and must continue like this.”

McTominay certainly lived up to Lukaku’s expectations with a Ballon d’Or nomination after producing 19 goal involvements in all competitions last term.

The former Manchester United star is a threat from set pieces with his height and has a knack of arriving late in the box to get on the end of chances.

As highlighted by FBref, the Scotsman ranks in the top one per cent of midfielders across Europe for non-penalty goals per 90 (0.38), and the top one per cent for total shots (2.39).

McTominay would add an attacking threat in abundance while shoring up their midfield physically, two attributes that could take them from mid-table into Europe.
