Exclusive | Cheryl Hines ‘irate’ over ‘liar’ Olivia Nuzzi’s claims RFK Jr. was in love with her: sources

A furious Cheryl Hines is telling confidantes that Olivia Nuzzi is a “f–king liar” when the journalist claims that she and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. — Hines’ husband — were in love and that the MAHA leader wanted her to have his baby, sources told The Post.
One Hines friend said the actress’s language “underscores the intense anger she feels” toward Nuzzi, adding that she is “really, really irate” about “falsehoods” in the ex-New York Magazine reporter’s book, “American Canto,” due Dec. 2.
“He would never love THAT woman, let alone have her have his baby,” Hines, 60, reportedly told the friend after Nuzzi, 32, opened up about her alleged sexting affair with Kennedy in an interview with the New York Times last week. “What that woman’s claiming is almost laughable if it wasn’t so hurtful.”

Nuzzi, who parlayed her scandals into a high-profile job as West Coast editor for Vanity Fair, doesn’t name Kennedy, 71, in the book — only referring to the secretary of Health and Human Services as “The Politician.” She details a mutual infatuation that allegedly played out on FaceTime and in texts, but says the bizarre relationship was never consummated.
Kennedy has publicly denied having a relationship with Nuzzi online or off, and has stated he met her only once when she interviewed him for New York Magazine during his 2023-2024 run for president.
After the scandal broke last year, Hines — Kennedy’s wife of a decade — was “heartbroken,” an insider said, adding that the “Curb Your Enthusiasm” actress considered divorce and did not wear her wedding ring for a time.
In her own just-published memoir, “Unscripted” — which will be competing with Nuzzi’s for bestseller status — Hines briefly refers to the scandal in terms of attempting to mend her marriage, which she claims has been strengthened.

“Cheryl believed the whole sordid sexting affair was finally in the past,” the insider told The Post. “But then the stories about Nuzzi’s book and her allegations about her relationship with Bobby exploded back in the headlines, and the s–t hit the fan.
“Cheryl believes Olivia used Bobby, and is now trying to persecute him with her book — to embarrass him, force him out of his job and again injure their marriage.”
An excerpt from Nuzzi’s book was published by Vanity Fair, her employer, Monday.

In the book, she acknowledges being in love with “The Politician” only after he admitted being in love with her. She writes that she loved his “blue as the flame” eyes and his “particular complications and particular darkness.” Her favorite body part? His nose.
On Monday, Nuzzi’s former fiancé, journalist Ryan Lizza, told his side of the story on his Substack — and suggested that Nuzzi also cheated with former South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford.
Jerry Oppenheimer is the author of two books about the Kennedys.
