After “ten or 15 years” of toiling away in the hits factory, Ariana Grande wants to take a break from being a pop star. On Good Hang, Grande told host Amy Poehler that she’s excited about her upcoming Eternal Sunshine tour, but mostly because it’s the last one she’ll do for a “long, long, long, long time.” “I’m going to give it my all,” Grande said. “And it’s going to be beautiful and I’m so grateful. That’s why I’m doing it.” Then, music can take a backseat. “I’m like, ‘one last hurrah!’” she said.

Instead, she’s diving into her acting career. “I spent so much time only doing pop music, but I grew up as a girl who loved musical theater and comedy,” she told Poehler. “I think the thing that will be best for my soul and also my art, and for what I’m giving myself to, is if I’m chasing things that sort of feel just very right in the moment, even if it’s spontaneous.” To that end, after Wicked: For Good, Grande will star in the upcoming comedy film Focker-in-Law as triathlete Olivia. She’s making up for lost comedy time. “When I came into all of this and my pop career sort of took over my life, I didn’t have that at all,” she said. “I feel very privileged and grateful to have learned that there can be room for different creative endeavors.” That includes acting in the next season of American Horror Story with Evan Peters and Jessica Lange. And who wouldn’t give up a music career to be physically closer to Jessica Lange?
