Omarion Hampton injury update: Will rookie running back return after Chargers’ bye week?

The Chargers could be getting back rookie running back Omarion Hampton real soon.
Head coach Jim Harbaugh indicated that Hampton’s 21-day practice window could be opened following the bye week. While there is no concrete answer yet, Hampton has been making progress, including getting rid of his walking boot and working out on a side field during recent practices.
Once Hampton’s practice window is opened, the Bolts have three weeks to activate him to the 53-man roster. The team is expected to be off from Tuesday until Sunday and return to the building on the Monday after the bye.
Before his ankle injury in Week 5, Hampton was a highly productive player for the Chargers, rushing for 314 yards (an average of 4.8 yards per carry) and two touchdowns. He was also a valuable weapon in the passing game, catching 20 passes for 136 receiving yards.
