International Men’s Day celebrated by song, poetry and food in Bramley

By Helen Fay
A celebration event for International Men’s Day will take place in Bramley on Monday (17 November).
The event will be held at Broadlea Community Centre from 10.30am-12.30pm and features live music, poetry, a digital art exhibition and food. The BARCA/Being You Leeds men’s songwriting group will be providing the musical entertainment for the morning.
The group has gone from strength to strength in the past couple of years and has posted original songs on their bandcamp page.
One of the most recent songs is The River which was released on World Mental Health Day 2025 to raise awareness of male suicide. You can view the video here:
Another song, Here I’m Staying was written and recorded for World Suicide Prevention Day and the Baton of Hope Leeds launch.
The event is free and open to the public to come along and see what local groups have been doing and the benefits to well-being and mental health experienced by those attending the sessions.
