RHOC’s Meghan King Loses Custody of Kids to Ex Jim Edmonds (Excl)

The Real Housewives of Orange County alum Meghan King recently lost custody of her three kids with ex-husband Jim Edmonds following an investigation by Child Protective Services, Us Weekly can exclusively report.
Multiple sources tell Us that the decision to strip King of physical custody was made in the past couple of months. The former Bravo star was granted supervised visitation while Edmonds has sole physical custody. Per the source, the decision is temporary and a hearing will be held on whether the custody arrangement will become permanent.
The source told Us that a school employee called Child Protective Services about King, leading to an investigation.
King and Edmonds were married from 2014 until 2019. They worked out a settlement in May 2021 and agreed to share joint custody of their 8-year-old daughter, Aspen, and 7-year-old twins, Hart and Hayes.
Us has learned a hearing is scheduled to take place in early December to further determine custody matters. Jim’s team declined to comment. Us has reached out to King for comment.

As Us first reported, King had the cops called on her on May 1 after an incident at Edmonds’ home with his current wife, Kortnie Edmonds, who he married in 2022.
A report written by the Frontenac Police Department detailed the drama. Kortnie was listed as the “victim” and King was named as the “subject.” Per the paperwork, Kortnie initially requested that charges be brought against King.
The drama started when King arrived at Jim and Kortnie’s home to drop off a dress for her daughter. Meghan claims she spoke to Jim about the dress before arriving.

Kortnie answered the door and told Meghan she could leave the clothes. Meghan said she needed to talk to her daughter. Kortnie informed Meghan that her daughter was not home and was out with Jim.
A source close to King claimed Kortnie demanded she leave but King refused because she wanted to talk to her daughter.
Kortnie told the police officers that she closed the door on Meghan after telling her to leave the dress. She said she walked back to her office and then heard Meghan calling for Aspen inside the home.

An officer wrote in the report about Kortnie’s version of things, “Meghan refused to hand Kortnie the dress and ‘pulled away and asked to speak to’ [her daughter]. Kortnie told Meghan that [her daughter] wasn’t home and she was at a baseball game with Jim.”

“As Kortnie walked back towards her office, she heard Meghan inside the home yelling for [her daughter],” the report said. “Kortnie walked back to the front door and observed Meghan standing inside the house approximately 5 feet from the doorway.” Kortnie said she told Meghan to get out of the home.
Kortnie claimed King “slowly walked back” out of the home “but wedged her foot in the door briefly, so she could not “shut the door completely.”
“After Meghan moved her foot, Kortnie closed the door,” the report noted after speaking to Kortnie.
King was not arrested or detained.

A source told Us at the time, “[King] is over this back and forth. She thinks it’s ridiculous. It was a very simple interaction that didn’t need police. [King] is unfazed because she doesn’t want to escalate conflict. She just wants to take care of her family in peace.”
Kortnie called the police after they left to tell her she no longer wished to press charges. Jim arrived at the scene after officers spoke to Kortnie and told them he had surveillance footage.
Police sent the report to the Frontenac Municipal Prosecutor for potential charges but they decided not to move forward with charges on August 12.

Kortnie filed a petition for a restraining order on May 2. She dismissed the case after reaching an agreement with King on June 6. Per their deal, they are prohibited from coming near each other and King cannot talk about Kortnie on social media.
While speaking to officers, King told them Jim was “emotionally abusive.”

She said, “He uses his name to push me around and his money.” Meghan denied she did anything wrong.
Jim’s rep scoffed at King’s accusations. He previously told Us, “As usual, Meghan is telling tales. Her and Jim barely communicate, so if someone is emotionally abusing her, it’s not Jim.”
“Jim is an active and present father to all his children. The unfortunate part of all this is that it’s the kids who suffer the most. Jim has always been willing to coparent in a respectful and productive way however Meghan has yet to reciprocate,” the rep added.
