Even though he’s now fully recovered, 64-year-old Martin admits he was left with dyslexia because of the operation.

During a conversation about reading, Martin told campmates: “I’m dyslexic, when I read all the ends of the words jumble around. 

“Mine is from an operation, taking away a brain tumour.” 

Spandau Ballet star Martin was working on a show in Canada where he was playing a professor when he went in to make up to put on a bald cap.

As the hair and make-up artists pulled it on, he described: “I could hear the whole of the make up wagon go quiet because you could see this lump on the back of my head” 

He explained that the tumour had started to grow into the bone, and two days later he had to have an operation.

He added: “They zapped me with stereotactic radiation.” 

Speaking about the impact he went on to reveal: “For a while I lost everything, I couldn’t walk, I couldn’t see.
