For Stephen Wilson Jr., his CMA Awards performance is all about his father.
The country singer said his father, who died unexpectedly several years ago before a medical procedure, didn’t have money but an “abundance of love” a spirit Wilson aims to conjure inside Bridgestone Arena during the 59th annual CMA Awards.
The death of the elder Wilson led the singer to record the 2023 double album “søn of dad,” featuring a “Death Cab for Country” emo sound.
Wilson is nominated for New Artist of the Year and will perform during the CMA Awards broadcast.
