Delta flight bound for Salt Lake diverts to Los Angeles for emergency landing

A Delta flight bound for Salt Lake made an emergency landing in Los Angeles early Wednesday morning.
Delta Flight 375 reportedly took off from Honolulu around 2 a.m. Mountain Standard Time, according to FlightRadar, a online flight tracking service. The flight followed its path over the Pacific Ocean before diverting to Los Angeles just before 6:45 a.m. Mountain Standard Time.
A Delta Air Lines spokesperson said one of the two engines on the Boeing 767-300ER plane required a shutdown as the plane neared the west coast of the mainland United States.
“Safety comes before all else – that’s why the Delta flight crew followed extensive training and procedures to divert to Los Angeles resulting in a safe landing,” Delta Air Lines said in a statement.

The aircraft was immediately inspected but taxied to a gate on its own. Delta maintenance teams then took over and are examining the aircraft further.
The flight was carrying 220 people on board, including the two pilots and six flight attendants.
Delta Air Lines said all customers were reaccommodated on new flights to their end destinations.
“We apologize to our customers for the experience and the delay in their travel,” Delta said.
