Every Kindle at record low price as Amazon’s Black Friday sale ramps up

Although Amazon’s website would have you believe its Black Friday sale doesn’t start until Thursday November 20, that’s just a question of branding. In reality, Black Friday is fully underway up and down the nation, with Amazon joining in by discounting each and every one of its Kindle e-readers substantially, some marked as ‘Early Black Friday’ deals.

That means you can pick up the entry-level Kindle for a record low price of £69.99. Amazon price comparison site Camelcamelcamel shows this is £5 less than the previous lowest price of £74.99 back in July for this device whose RRP is £94.99.

Bear in mind for this price you have to put up with lockscreen ads – the version without these pesky intrusions is £79.99, which is still a great price.

The Kindle, available in black and a fetching matcha colour may be the cheapest Kindle but it can download and display any book from the Kindle Store that all the pricier Kindles can in a plastic frame with a recessed display. But this screen is still 300 pixels per inch, which is the same resolution as the Kindle Paperwhite.

You get 16GB storage to store thousands of books and the most compact design that can slip unnoticed into a bag or jacket pocket.

If you want a more premium Kindle, the Kindle Paperwhite is reduced to £124.99, matching the cheapest price this model has been sold at for in the past. It’s usually £159.99.

It has a larger 7-inch screen that’s flush with the bezels, 16GB storage and weeks of battery life. Amazon also says it’s the quickest Kindle ever, with 25 percent faster page turns than the last generation and a higher contrast ratio for very crisp text.

If you want to buy into the new colour Kindle craze, the Kindle Colorsoft is discounted to £164 down from £239.99. This is, you guessed it, the lowest ever price the model has been sold for, beating the previous low price by £5.

It has very similar hardware to the Paperwhite, the only difference being the colour screen. As it’s E Ink, colours are more pastel than you will be used to on a phone or tablet. But seeing your book covers and those in the Kindle Store come to life in colour is great, plus it’s the Kindle to go for if you want to read colour comic books and graphic novels.

Even Amazon’s priciest Kindle hasn’t escaped reduction, with the Kindle Scribe down to £259.99 from £379.99 in an ‘Early Black Friday’ offer. This is – you guessed it – the cheapest this model has ever been by £10.

This large 10.2-inch tablet style Kindle is great for fitting more text on the page, but is designed to be used with the included stylus pen. You can annotate any of your books to keep notes on them, or create notebooks from scratch and use the Kindle as a journal or work notebook tool.

It’s not clear how long these all-time-low Kindle prices will last, but it’s definitely worth considering picking one up given the excellent discounts on offer.
