While no new leader has been formally chosen, former NSW Liberal leader Mark Speakman has backed Kellie Sloane as the future leader of the party.
Speakman said he was only aware of one candidate in a potential leadership contest, that being Kellie Sloane.
“I will do whatever I can to help Kellie in a transition. She is someone with enormous, enormous leadership potential,” Speakman told reporters.
“I would now implore all my colleagues to get behind Kellie Sloane and give her the energy, the unity, the discipline and the focus that she needs and we need to win the next election.”
The former leader also indicated he would continue in his role as member for Cronulla and would contest the next election.
