Square Enix Updates Switch 2 Storage Requirements for FFVII Remake Intergrade

Square Enix has issued an official correction regarding the storage requirements for the upcoming release of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade on the Nintendo Switch 2. Following some initial confusion on the My Nintendo store pages, the publisher has adjusted the figures, giving fans a much clearer picture of just how much digital real estate they will need to clear out before the game drops.
According to the revised data, the Standard Edition of the game will require between 90GB and 95GB of free space. For those opting for the bells and whistles of the Limited Early Purchase Edition or the Digital Deluxe version, the requirement increases slightly, ranging from 93.8GB to 99GB. While this is certainly a hefty footprint for a portable-hybrid console, Square Enix has assured fans that official product pages will be updated shortly to reflect these numbers, ensuring no one is caught off guard with a full SD card on launch day.
These technical clarifications come as anticipation swells for the title, which serves as the enhanced version of the critically acclaimed action RPG. The package includes the retelling of Cloud Strife’s escapades in Midgar alongside the Episode Intermission DLC, which features Yuffie Kisaragi. To handle this massive amount of content, the Switch 2 version has been specifically optimized to maintain a consistent performance level.
On the technical front, Square Enix confirmed that the port is engineered to run at a steady 30 frames per second. When the console is docked, the game aims to impress by leveraging NVIDIA’s DLSS technology to output at an upscaled 1440p resolution. Given the detailed character models and the cinematic flair of the combat system, achieving these targets makes this one of the more ambitious adaptations for the new hardware.
The game is scheduled to launch on January 22, 2026. This date represents a major shift in strategy for the franchise, as it marks the first time the modern Final Fantasy VII project moves beyond the PlayStation ecosystem. By launching simultaneously on the Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, Square Enix is finally offering a global audience the chance to experience the reimagined saga without platform restrictions. With the file sizes now set in stone, players have plenty of time to prepare their storage for the journey ahead.
