George Clarke has said that life is ‘crazy right now’ as he was flooded with support following an appearance away from the Strictly Come Dancing ballroom.
The YouTuber is among the celebrities still competing in the BBC One dance contest, having made it through to week nine of the competition, which takes place this Saturday night (November 22) alongside professional dance partner Alexis Warr. The pair sparked tears for viewers as they returned to the ballroom on Saturday night (November 15) as for their latest routine, George and Alexis performed a rhumba to Lily Allen’s version of the Keane track, Somewhere Only We Know, which was dedicated to his mum.
Ahead of his dance on Saturday, George said in a video that his mother had been diagnosed with cancer, having also previously being diagnosed with a brain inflammation condition called encephalitis when he was 16. As George and Alexis managed to secure their place in the competition for another week during Sunday’s (November 16) results show, the pair took to social media to reflect on their latest performance.
Alongside pictures from the emotional routine, George wrote: “What an unbelievable opportunity and one we are both so grateful for. “Whilst the song and focus was on my (George’s) mother and family, we have both been through very similar situations in our lives and to be able to share last night together will be something we treasure for a long time.
“We are unbelievably thankful to be given the opportunity to perform that song. Throughout the week we worked so hard on the steps and the technique but when it started playing we just wanted to tell a story and I think when it boils down to it that’s exactly what dance is for.”

He continued to share: “Each week we say we don’t want this to end but each week there is a new found respect for dance and the want to stay on this journey continues. We truly thank everyone for their lovely words about last night. Hopefully we can show you in Blackpool that our journey isn’t done and we can continue on the same trajectory as last week.Love you all, Team Warrkey.”
Now, George has shared an update away from the ballroom as he shared a look at his recent outing at the TikTok Awards where he was nominated for the ‘Creator of the Year’ gong. As he didn’t take home the award on the night, he quipped: “Just like when I was getting changed when the window cleaners were round a man with a ladder got the better of me. (Congratulations to @maxoklymenko, very well deserved).”
The social media star then continued: “I think even a nomination is insane to me let alone getting the secondary award for creator of the year. Life is a bit crazy right now and this year has been so overwhelming and I can only thank all of you for that. I’ve always wanted to make videos and I cannot wait to get back into the swing of things once I’m done shaking my hips. I appreciate all the support in everything I do, you guys are the best.”
And he was quickly flooded with messages. @zoeritter18 said: “Congratulations George – so so proud of you – you are an inspiration and role-model to all of us.” @harryways_ commented: “Congrats George, can’t wait for you to be back in YouTube videos with the boys. Feels weird without you.”
@spamava08 replied: “Congrats king!! you will have ur hands on the glitterball in a few weeks time I can see it incoming!!” @harry_bondy_2017_ echoed: “Next The Glitter Ball…. I’m Rooting for you..” @corbettkatharine added: “You are amazing George.”
