Direct flights from Inverness to Birmingham will return early in 2026 – just two years after the route was axed by a different airline.
easyJet have taken over the route, which will resume operations in March.
Inverness previously had direct flights to Birmingham with Loganair, but these were axed just days into 2024 – alongside the Highland capital’s Dublin service – prompting concerns over the “seriously detrimental impact” the move could have for business and personal travellers.
Speaking at the time, Colin Marr, the chief executive of the Inverness Chamber of Commerce, said: “The loss [of the route] will have a seriously detrimental effect for both business and personal travel. Birmingham is a popular business route for both the area itself and is also used by some business travellers for their fast train services to attend London meetings.”
So news that direct flights to Birmingham are to return under easyJet is likely to be warmly welcomed by many.
Confirming the news on its socials, Inverness Airport said it was “delighted” and that the route will resume from March.
“Birmingham is back! We are delighted to welcome easyJet’s new direct Inverness to Birmingham service, restoring a route our passengers have often told us they wanted to see return,” said a spokesperson.
“Tickets are on sale from today, with flights starting in March 2026!”

The return of direct flights to Birmingham comes just weeks after the Caledonian Sleeper announced the addition of Birmingham International to its Inverness-London service – a move which was also welcomed by Highland airline passengers looking to fly through the Midlands city.
